The WSCC is overseen by a seven-person Governance Council. The Governance Council is responsible for the conduct of business and management while maintaining the credibility and vitality of the WSCC. The Governance is comprised of individuals from Nunavut and the Northwest Territories, and represents the interests of workers, employers, and the general public. The members are appointed by the Northwest Territories Ministers responsible for the WSCC in consultation with the Nunavut Minister.
Governance Council Directives are policies for how the Governance Council conducts its business. They outline the roles and responsibilities of the Governance Council members and provide direction to its members.

Jenni Bruce, ChairpersonJenni Bruce has been a resident of Yellowknife for over two decades, and is the Regional Manager for Midwest Property Management. Jenni has sat on boards including the Northern Safety Association, the NWT Chamber of Commerce, and NWT Tourism. She has additionally been involved in strategic planning groups for the GNWT, which have included Aboriginal Tourism Champions Advisory Council, Business Advisory Council, and the Wildlife Act working group. | |
Cathy Cudmore, Northwest Territories Employer RepresentativeCathy has lived in the North for over three decades. Cathy is an accountant working with individuals, corporations, and the Government of the Northwest Territories and government agencies. She has also served as President of the Certified General Accountants Association of the NWT and Nunavut, the director and chair of the audit committee for the Deton Cho Corporation, and was a partner at Avery Cooper and Co retiring after 26 years with the company. | |
Joseph Ohokannoak, Nunavut Public Interest RepresentativeJoseph lives and works in Cambridge Bay, Nunavut, and most recently was the Deputy Mayor of the Cambridge Bay Hamlet Council. Joseph has been a part of many significant developments in Nunavut including working on the Nunavut Implementation Commission from 1996 – 2001, he has served two terms as Mayor of Cambridge Bay, has worked as an Economic Development Officer and Regional Tourism Officer, and has served as Chairman of the Nunavut Artic College Board of Governors. | |
Peter Mackey, Nunavut Public Interest RepresentativePeter Mackey has lived and worked in Nunavut for every 25 years, and is the General Manager of Uqsuq Corporation. In the past, he has also worked for the Northwest Territories Power Corporation, the Nunavut Power Corporation, and was the President and Chief Executive Officer of the newly renamed Qulliq Energy Corporation. Peter has also served in the past as Director and as Chair of the Apprenticeship Board, and as Director of Skills Canada Nunavut. | |
Robert Wilkins, Northwest Territories Employer RepresentativeResiding in Hay River for over a decade, Robert is the Health and Safety Officer for the Aurora Group of Companies. In the past, he has also worked for the GNWT, Wesclean Northern Sales, and The North West Company. Robert has served on the boards of the Northern Safety Association and still serves on The Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary, and is a Patrol Commander with the Sgt. Canadian Rangers 1CRPG. | |
Derek Allerton, Nunavut Worker RepresentativeDerek has lived in Iqaluit since 2015 and is currently the Health and Safety Specialist with Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC). He obtained his Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation in 2017 and has been involved in workplace safety for twenty years in various jurisdictions across Canada. Derek serves as Chair of the Nunavut Region Health and Safety Committee with the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) North, which includes being a PSAC North Regional Council member. He is also an active member of the Nunavut Chapter of the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering (CSSE). |
