June 2026 Governance Council Meeting

  • Develop new policy for Cost-of-Living Adjustment

The WSCC adjusts pensions and various compensation payments and benefits annually to reflect changes in the cost of living due to inflation. Currently, these adjustments are made annually using the Supplementary Pension Increase calculation set out in Policy 06.03, Calculation of Permanent Impairment Compensation. The WSCC is proposing to remove this calculation from the policy and to establish a new stand-alone policy titled Policy 04.17, Cost-of-Living Adjustment.

The proposed changes are as follows:

  1. Policy 06.03, Calculation of Permanent Impairment Compensation:
    - Remove the Supplementary Pension Increase (SPI) calculation section.
  2. Policy 04.17, Cost-of-Living Adjustment (Development of a new policy):
    - The Supplementary Pension Increase calculation would move to this policy.
    - The name of the new calculation would be the Cost-of-Living Adjustment.
  3. Update all policies that previously referred to the Supplementary Pension Increase calculation to ensure they refer to the calculation in Policy 04.17, Cost-of-Living Adjustment.
