Access to Information and Protection of Privacy (ATIPP)
Collection of Personal Information
The Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act (the Act) authorizes the WSCC to collect personal information (name, address, date of birth) to administer its programs and activities. The Act also stipulates the following:
- Personal information must be collected directly from the owner of the information;
- Personal information compiled must be accurate;
- The information must be used solely for the purpose for which it was collected;
- The public body (WSCC) must make reasonable security arrangements to protect personal information against risks such as unauthorized access;
- The owner of the personal information is entitled to access to that information, upon request; and
- The owner of the personal information may make changes to it (marital status, family status, etc.).
Anyone who would like access to WSCC records, which may contain personal information, other than their own, must file an ATIPP request for access with the Access to Information Coordinator. The telephone number is 1-800-661-0792.
