To harmonize safety legislation across Canada, amendments to First Aid regulations have come into effect in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Regulations.
What is important to know?
1. First aid training providers must update their training and training materials for:
- NWT: January 1, 2021
- NU: February 12, 2021
2. Employers have one year to use and update first aid kits at their work sites. The deadlines are:
- NWT: January 1, 2022
- NU: February 12, 2022
3. First aid certification remains valid until the expiry date on valid First Aid Certification. This applies to both territories.
